Antelope Valley Hospital

Antelope Valley Hospital – Replacement Hospital

Antelope Valley Hospital is a non profit public entity, providing community based healthcare services to residents in the Antelope Valley. In order to comply with California’s latest seismic requirements, the addition of new beds, expansion of the Emergency Department, and the addition of other diagnostic and treatment services were necessary. These additions to the existing hospital would have tremendous impacts to the structural, mechanical and electrical systems as well as to the daily operations .
Taking into consideration the new seismic code requirements, RBB along with Antelope Valley Hospital decided it would be more advantageous to create a new replacement hospital than to revitalize an old facility with additions and demolitions. In its current location the existing hospital does not have generous land area for the required expansion setting up tighter constraints for any future expansion. A new replacement hospital on the northern end of the campus allows good options for future expansion and brings operational efficiencies that will result in life cycle cost savings.
