Sylvia joined RBB in 1983 after receiving her Masters in Urban and Regional Studies from the University of Southern California. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami. She was named a Principal in 2002 and became RBB’s President in 2015.
Sylvia has worked on a variety of highly technical architectural projects including laboratories, hospitals, clinics, medical office buildings and higher education projects. Sylvia has 35 years of experience in all aspects of project management from master planning, pre-programming through design, construction and post occupancy evaluations. For the past 20 years she has gained extensive experience on university projects including 5 University of California campuses and at Boise State University.
Sylvia has been recognized as Hispanic Woman of the Year at the Edwards Air Force Base; the award celebrated minority individuals that enhanced the national tapestry. She was a guest lecturer at the International Conference and Exhibition on Health Facility Planning, Design and Construction as well as the Western Association of College & University Housing Officers (WACUHO) and is scheduled to present a practice management case study at the 2019 AIA Conference on Architecture.
Sylvia is a member of the American College of Healthcare Architects, she is Evidence Base Design certified, a current member of the AIA National Ethics Council and has also served as past President of the AIA San Fernando Valley Chapter.
