This renovation and expansion increased the capacity of the emergency department and upgraded the hospital’s imaging technology to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community.
The 50,000 SF project included the expansion in-place, of the emergency care unit from 34 to 52 private exam rooms, as well as extensive site work to accommodate a new entrance, a covered patient drop-off and a new exterior waiting area.
Improvements to the imaging department included a dedicated CT and general Rad room, nuclear medicine rooms, image guided US procedure rooms, ultrasound, rad/fluoro rooms, pre-post procedure areas, and the reconfiguration of two MRI rooms. The project also required coordination with the California Coastal Commission. Careful construction phasing allowed the various projects to be completed with minimal disruption to the operations of the fully occupied facility.
